Mighty Mustang Meals is a nonprofit organization that provides food to children in need. The organization was founded by a group of Mississippi natives with a vision to create a better future for children in need and since that time it has grown exponentially. The program is focused on providing free and nutritious meals at school and home for grades K-5th grade students.
Mighty Mustang Meals donates backpacks of food to different school-children in the Desoto County area. This program is free and offers a kids a chance at a worry-free education. The organization believes giving access to food decreases childhood mortality rates and increases education attainment. When a child is hungry at school, they worry and they cannot focus. They beg teachers for snacks, other kids partially eaten food, and these are all signs that a child isn’t getting food outside of school. Mighty Mustang Meals also offers backpacks of food donated by providers to ensure a balanced meal at both school and home for those who can’t afford these vital meals.
